The Group was listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited with principal business of magazine publishing on 8 January 2002.
Hong Bridge Capital Limited became the new controlling shareholder of the Group on 16 October 2007 by subscribing the new issued shares and convertible notes of the Group, and changed the Company name to “Honbridge Holdings Limited”. Since then, it has introduced two of the Fortune Global 500 companies - Geely Holding Group and Shagang Group as significant shareholders.
At present, the Group is developing in both new energy and resources field.
In respect of the new energy field, the Group started to enter into the lithium-ion battery industry in 2014 with the acquisition of Shandong Forever New Energy Co., Ltd. in Zoucheng, Shandong Province, China, and the establishment of Zhejiang Forever New Energy Co., Ltd. in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China, the total designed annual production capacity of the two battery enterprices are about 1.7 million kWh. During the small-scale production for more than three years, the company actively promoted technological progress, product upgrading and capacity expansion, a product portfolio of lithium iron phosphate prismatic type battery, ternary prismatic type battery and pouch type battery has been formed; the energy density, power density, cycle life, consistency and safety have all reached the advanced level, and will have large-scale supply to VOLVO and LYNK & CO from 2018. The company is also promoting the matching tests with other brands of Geely to strive to be the main battery supplier of Geely's new energy vehicle.
In the resources field, the Group acquired Sul Americana de Metais S. A. (SAM) in Brazil in 2010 and holds a 100% interest in SAM since May 2016. SAM has a numbers of iron ore exploration rights in Brazil, the Group plans to build a large integrated iron ore project in one of its blocks with an open pit mine, beneficiation plant, pipeline and port with an annual output of 25 million tons of iron concentrate.
The Group will still look for cooperation opportunities in the areas of new energy and resources.
